Lori joined K. Backus and Associates in 2005 and serves as lead project manager on multiple engagements, with expertise in strategic planning and financial analysis.
Lori leads multiple strategic projects for KBA's nonprofit and
institutional clients. Current projects include Brooklyn
Public Library's Branch Plan, a long-term plan for BPL's 58
neighborhood libraries, and Princeton University's 2011 Real
Estate Report, a comprehensive review and evaluation of the
University's landholdings. Other recent strategic planning
projects include Princeton's Off-Campus Housing Master Plan, a
10-year plan to develop or improve over 500 units of faculty and
graduate student housing, and Washington University's off-campus
housing plan, a strategic plan for the University's 1,200
off-campus housing units. Lori's current projects include
New England College's Real Estate and Facilities Plan, which will
provide an implementation roadmap for NEC's recently completed
Strategic Plan, and Teach For America's Headquarters Plan, a real
estate plan to address long-term growth needs. Lori has also
worked on several projects for New York University, including a
study to identify potential acquisitions for new development and
NYU's Micro-Housing initiative, an effort to identify and secure
affordable home ownership for faculty.
Prior to joining K. Backus & Associates, Lori worked as a City Planner for the City of San Mateo, California. She was responsible for analyzing environmental, policy and urban design impacts of proposed real estate developments, including the redevelopment of a 75-acre former racetrack into a mixed-use office, retail and residential center.
