Alex joined K. Backus and Associates in 2009 and provides project management and analytical support on several projects, with expertise in financial modeling and transaction support.
For Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Alex completed extensive financial analysis of myriad purchase and lease options for PPFA’s 100,000 square foot Manhattan office, assisted the organization to select a preferred plan, and provides ongoing negotiation and transaction support to implement the plan. Alex
also assisted an affordable housing complex to monetize excess development potential through partnerships. Alex assisted the organization to assess the value of unused development rights and is currently providing transaction support to execute the selected development strategy. Other recent work includes The New School University Center project for which Alex analyzed and compared development options and developer partnership deal structures to assist University decision-making.
Prior to joining K. Backus & Associates, Alex gained experience in financial modeling, real estate asset underwriting and market analysis by working with Apollo Real Estate Advisors (AREA) and an Opportunity Fund that was a joint venture between Related and Lubert Adler. Additionally, Alex gained hands-on real estate experience by working as a Project Manager with InteliHomes Corp, a residential real estate developer. In that role, he managed the development process by coordinating subcontractors, interfacing with local government agencies, and managing the sales process.
