Columbia University
Manhattanville Campus Planning
KBA served as project manager and advisor during the planning phase of Columbia’s new 17-acre campus in the Manhattanville section of West Harlem. This massive undertaking, which involves land assemblage, rezoning, and the development of millions of square feet of academic space and new infrastructure, will accommodate the University’s growth for decades.
As project manager during the planning phase, KBA interfaced between University stakeholders and a team of design consultants led by Renzo Piano Building Workshop and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. KBA managed the project schedule, budget, and contracts, and served as liaison to the City and State agencies overseeing the project. A KBA staff member based at Columbia continues to assist the University to negotiate property acquisitions, business relocations, and leases in the project area.
